- Abstract: In this work parts of data on tooth mobility trauma, collected over many years at the Univ.- Klinik für ZMK Graz at the department of conversative dentistry are scientifically evaluated, in order to allow evaluation of topis where there is insufficient literature. The objective of this thesis is to determine the exact movement of traumatized splinted teeth, and to understand whether the movement with and after splinting is the same as the physiological mobility of non-traumatized teeth. Material und Methods: Basic materials were patients records in the dental trauma clinic at the department of conservative dentistry Graz, were many detailed data of clinically and radiologically examined traumatized teeth are listed . In the clinical examination the Periotest device is used in oreder to determine the mobility of the teeth. Following comparisons were carried out: 1. Influence of the splint on the consolidation of the teeth in all age groups, men and women. 2. The Mobility of the splinted teeth was compared on the day after the removal of the splint with the last measurements. 3. The Mobility of the splinted teeth on the day of the splints removal, before and after the removal. 4. The probability of error in splinted and non-splinted teeth. Results: The following results were found: 1. At all age groups, men and women showed a significant consolidation. 2. The periodontal splinted traumatized teeth or non-periodontal traumatized, and non-traumatized teeth splinted in the course of treatment of other teeth also showed a significant consolidation. 3. On the day of removal of splint the splinted teeth showed a significantly higher mobility after the removal than before the removal, which proves that the splint strengthens the teeth artificially. 4. The probability that there was a difference between the splinted and non-splinted teeth was highly significant. Conclusions: In this work it became apparent that the splint did not only strengthen periodontal splinted traumatized teeth but also the non-traumatized periodontal or not traumatized teeth, that were splinted in course of the treatment of other teeth.
