Abstract:

Cardiogenic shock is a frequent and severe complication of cardiovascular events and is associated with high in-hospital mortality rates. Parameters of initial blood gas testing in the catheterization laboratory can be useful prognosticators. Lactate is already a validated parameter for early prognostic assessment of patients with cardiogenic shock. Early blood glucose, however, requires further exploration as a predictor of cardiogenic shock outcomes.
