Abstract:

Gold standard methods for molecular pathogen surveillance and typing like Sanger sequencing and Illumina are rather slow and/or cost intensive which limits widespread use in diagnostics. With the recent advances in chemistry and technology OXford Nanopore's MinION might represent a useful option to circunvent these shortcomings.
