- Introduction
Low-level Lasertherapy is supposed to have a positive effect on Head and Neck cancer treatment associated dermatitis and mucositis. The aim of this study was to investigate effects of Low-level Lasertherapy in Head and Neck cancer patients undergoing radiotherapy or chemo-/immunotherapy.
Material and Methods
18 patients suffering from treatment associated dermatitis or mucositis were in-cluded in this study. Clinical parameters including mucositis, dermatitis, subjec-tive state of health, NRS, BMI and adverse effects were evaluated in regard of the number of Low-level Laser treatment applications.
Results
Included subjects were divided into two groups (first: =11; second: =10 sessions) and analysed. The mean mucositis grading in the first group decreased from 2.44 to 1.188 and in the second group from 1.43 to 1.286 (p=0.017). No adverse effects were reported.
Conclusion
Low-level Laser therapy seems to be an effective treatment modality for mucositis in Head and Neck cancer patients.
