Abstract:
Problem: Children and adolescents with an attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) are very challenging for their whole setting. Because of that fact it is very important that they receive the best treatment. Presently the medicinal therapy is the standard therapy, but it has many side effects. Therefore it is necessary that the complementary treatment gets more popular. It is also very important that parents get more information about ADHD and the suitable therapies. Aim: The aim of this paper was to identify treatment options for children and adolescents with ADHD and find out relevant information for their parents. Hence information about the best therapy for the patients is available. Method: This paper is based on theories of a comprehensive literature search. The current state of research to the topic ¿ADHD at children and adolescents ¿ consultation of their parents and the difference between the standard therapy to the complementary therapies¿ was structured and analysed. Findings: The literature search shows that there are many treatment options for chil-dren and adolescents with ADHD which lead to an improvement of that disease such as the medicinal therapy. Furthermore, parents are able to contribute to a more har-monious live together without another help. Conclusions: There are so many treatment options for children and adolescents con-cerning ADHD but they are undercharging investigated. So it is important that long-term-studies will be realized to get more information about the best therapies for the patients.
