Abstract:: In a retrospective study 88 cases of KCOT from 44 patients were investigated clinic - pathologically. The 88 cases consisted of 59 primary tumors and 29 recurrences (32%). 80% of the tumors were located in the mandible and 20% in the maxilla. 66% of KCOT concerned male patients and 34% females. At first diagnosis the age of the patients ranged between 12 and 80 years and the mean age was 37 years. In 89% the recurrences were located in the mandible, whereas in 11% the location was in the maxilla showing the ramus mandibulae being the most frequent site of primaries and recurrences. Four patients suffered from Nevoid basal cell carcinoma syndrome (Gorlin - Goltz syndrome). In 97% of the cases the therapy was cystectomy with peripheral osteotomy.
