- Abstract:
- Misfolded proteins found in inclusion bodies such as Mallory Denk bodies (MDBs) and Intracellular Hyaline bodies (IHBs) are cellular hallmarks of alcoholic and non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (ASH and NASH), hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and several other liver diseases.MDBs are aggresomes composed of misfolded keratin 8/18, ubiquitin and p62.
one of the major goals of this study was to elucidate whether the interaction of p62 with K8/18 is dependent on a) conformational alterations b) phosphorylation or c) structural domains of p62 and d) ubiquitination.
Additionally, how key phosphorylation sites of p62 regulate the interaction between p62 and LC3 or p62 and K8/K18 is also investigated
