- Abstract:
- Single diffusing, as well as fast flowing (10 mm/s), tetramethylrhodamine labeled molecules (TMR-4-dUTP) were detected in silicon microstructures by confocal fluorescence microscopy. Low fluorescent silicon-glass microstructures, manufactured by Deep Reactive Ion Etching (DRIE), enabled us to obtain a signal-to-noise ratio of 10:1 for diffusion and 4:1 for 10 mm/s flow. Further, laser bead trapping of 1 mum silica beads with a Nd:YAG laser has been performed. A laser power of 55 mW was sufficient to hold the beads in a 10 mm/s laminar flow.
