- Abstract:
- Primary adult lactose intolerance is a very frequent hereditary condition in European populations. Together with the possibilities of new diagnostic procedures using genetic screening tests there is an increasing interest in the pathophysiological and practical conditions of lactose intolerance. Influences based on an individual genetic background together with various environmental factors may contribute not only to calcium disturbances in the skeletal system, but also involve other fields like paediatrics, gastroenterology and even oncology and psychiatric medicine.
