- Abstract:
- Spontaneous and evoked bioelectrical brain activities (EEG, evoked potentials) are primary parameters for brain function monitoring. Cerebral perfusion, cerebral blood flow velocity, intracranial pressure and cerebral oxygenation (cerebral spectroscopy, cerebral O2-saturation) are also important. Continuous and discontinuous monitoring of global and regional parameters can provide information on the patient status or influences of surgical interventions and offer the opportunity for control pharmacological therapy. The present paper demonstrates new computer-based neurophysiological methods and gives an overview of different practicable methods used clinically to date.
