- Abstract:
- When ocelli are already largely differentiated tracheoles grow in from proximal between glial cells. So in the 6-7 day old pupae, about one day before hatching, tracheoles can be seen to the rhabdomeric region of photoreceptor cells. The tracheoblasts cover large areas in close contact with neighbouring glial cells, connected by tight junctions. A direct contact to photoreceptor cells was never found. In imagos the cytoplasmic envelope of tracheoles is reduced and only small areas contact glial cells.
