- Abstract:
- From the beginning of microvilli formation in photoreceptor cells of two day old pupae and further on coated pits pinch off from the microvilli bases indicating photoreceptor membrane degradation. Only two to four day old pupae also show double membraned coated vesicles budding off from membranes of two connecting photoreceptor cells, and their microvilli bases. They may be involved in screening pigment granule formation occuring only at this time. Coated pits and vesicles were also seen in corneagenous cells during lens development, in photoreceptor cells and glial cells.
