Abstract:

Only few cases of hypoglycaemic neuropathy are described in literature so far. None of these affected the cranial nerves. We describe a patient, who suffered from primary hyperinsulinism by a probable insulinoma for years. The hypoglycaemiae have increasingly occurred for 10 years and reach values of 20 mg/dl. Finally, the patient developed an abducens paresis of an unclear genesis. The article is trying to lean on the occurrence of peripheral polyneuropathies to establish a connection between the relapsing and very distinct hypoglycaemic states.
