- Abstract:
- Considering the theoretical idea of a dimensional conception of pathologic personality traits, it is possible, that through psychopharmacological and psychotherapeutic approaches symptoms of Cluster C disorder would be reduced. Epidemiologic studies show that Cluster C disorders have a comorbidity with other anxiety disorders. The problem of the diagnostic value and differentiation of the anxious avoidant personality disorder (APD) and social phobia was discussed. Most studies were especially conducted for APD. Here, MAO-inhibitors (phenelzine, moclobemide, brofaromine) show statistically significant and clinically relevant changes. For depressive personality disorder and obsessive compulsive disorders the empirical evidence for pharmacologic aspects was low. Pharmacotherapy could be an important element in the multidimensional therapy of these disorders and should be better examined in the future.
