Abstract:
Amalgam fillings contribute analytically measurable amounts to the total burden of the population with mercury. This amount is approximately in accordance with the organical bound mercury fi om fish products in food. For persons with amalgam fillings, the Hg concentrations in blood and urine are in comparison with amalgam-free persons slightly raised For pel sons who ale not exposed to Hg in their profession or food, the Hg concentration in blood and urins correlate with the number of amalgam fillings. Professional Hg exposure or increased Hg absorption from food are mole likely to influence the Hg concentration in blood and urine than amalgam fillings. Fundamentally if is desirable to minimize the mercury exposition, whereby dentistry I requirements still need to be considered and fulfilled.
