- Abstract:
- Coronary angiography as a stand-alone diagnostic tool often leads to incorrect decisions. The use of intracoronary imaging and/or intracoronary physiological assessment is often required to indicate and optimize revascularization or PCI and improve clinical outcomes. The following article is intended to provide an overview of the most commonly used procedures. Intracoronary imaging: intravascular ultrasound and optical coherence tomography; Coronary physiology: fractional flow reserve. The recently published consensus documents and recommendations of the European Society of Cardiology are discussed.
