- Phototherapy with UVB light is considered to be a cornerstone in the treatment of vitiligo.1-3 However, performing phototherapy in a non-targeted way results in tanning of vitiligo-adjacent and -free skin. A therapy-enhanced pigment difference between healthy and diseased skin (though in the case of phototherapy most often only transient) represents an important reason for insufficient therapy satisfaction with regard to cosmetic outcome in particular for facial lesions. © 2019 British Association of Dermatologists.
