Abstract:
Congenital developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH) is one of the most frequent congenital skeletal disorders in newborn and infants. No clinical examination can lead to a certain diagnosis in this age group. A certain diagnosis is only possible using ultrasound. Therefore, hip ultrasound is of considerable importance for the control, documentation and detection of the development of the pediatric hip. Consequential loss of hip dysplasia or dislocation such as premature osteoarthritis and the resulting early hip replacement can be avoided easily in this age group, whereas this pathological condition in toddlers can only be treated by performing serious operations.
