- Abstract:
- Purpose Patients with chronic graft-versus-host-disease (cGvHD) after allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (alloSCT) may suffer from reduced physical performance and mobility restriction for a long time. Methods The German-Austrian-Swiss cGvHD-consortium developed in cooperation with physiotherapists, sport therapists, pediatricians, pulmonologists and rehabilitation physicians consensus recommendations for exercise therapy in cGvHD. Results Despite regular application of physio- and sports therapy in the treatment of cGvHD, the published evidence is limited. Therefore, we developed consensus recommendations in order to improve the quality of treatment of cGvHD-patients by establishing uniform standards. Discussion and conclusions In order to further improve the performance and QoL of cGvHD-patients, continuous therapy and the validation of the consensus recommendations are warranted.
