Abstract:
"The lower, the better" principle for the reduction of LDL cholesterol (LDL-C) in patients with very high risk has gained confirmation by the data of PCSK9-inhibitors. Also current guidelines re-commend < 70 mg/dl as minimum target. Unfortunately, clinical routine in lipid lowering in Austria is far from recommended treatment goals. PCSK9-inhibition can be helpful in all instances where usual lipid lowering strategies are insufficient. The current publication aims to increase recent knowledge and to offer practical tips in order to contribute to optimal lipid lowering.
