- Abstract:
- Overweight and obesity in children and adolescents not only pose a problem for healthcare politics but also have negative effects physically and psychologically on those concerned. It is of utmost importance to take the appropriate steps early enough in order to avoid serious consequences on all levels. The goal of this article is to heighten awareness for the increasing problem areas caused by overweight and obesity in the very young population and to consider these disease entities within a biopsychosocial context with respect to the etiology, diagnostics and therapeutic possibilities.
