To the Editor: A 48-year-old woman presented with nonbloody diarrhea 9 months after cord-blood transplantation. Her condition was caused by colitis and met the criteria for cord colitis syndrome.(1) Two courses of metronidazole were administered and were followed by clinical and endoscopically confirmed remission. Colonoscopy was performed during active colitis and at the end of antibiotic therapy. Colonic biopsies were performed on both occasions, and specimens were frozen and were analyzed by means of 16S rDNA-based microbial community profiling with the use of high-throughput pyrosequencing.(2) In contrast with the findings of Bhatt et al.
