- Abstract:
- Case report. We report about an 8 year old girl whose symptoms of presumed acute appendicitis were caused by splenic torsion of one of five spleens in polysplenia syndrome. Discussion. Asplenia/Polysplenia syndrome is a congenital disorder of symmetry. The anatomy can be understood as the body having two right halves or two left halves. The spleens develop along the greater curvature of the stomach. Splenic torsion in polysplenism is a rare and demanding differential diagnosis of abdominal pain in childhood.
