Abstract:
Wearable devices are optimal instruments for remote detection and surveillance of cardiac arrhythmias. This article gives an overview of arrhythmia detection methods in wearables, underlying studies and possibilities for remote care in patients with arrhythmias. A great example of telemedicine using wearables is the "-TeleCheck-AF" project, which enabled remote follow up of more than 2500 patients after atrial fibrillation ablation in Europe. Furthermore, a case of remote care in a patient with newly diagnosed atrial fibrillation is presented.
