Abstract:

A position paper. Chronic heart failure and diabetes are closely related with each other. Glucose intolerance and overt diabetes are highly prevalent in patients with chronic heart failure, while chronic heart failure is known as a severe long-term complication in patients with diabetes. This position paper from the Austrian Diabetes Association and the Austrian Society of Cardiology aims to improve the awareness for these co-existing disorders and summarizes relevant diagnostic procedures and therapeutic approaches for daily clinical practice.
