Mechanisms of restoration of ß-cell function in relation to adipoinsular and enteroinsular axes after gastric bypass surgery in severly obese patients with type 2 diabetes - double-centre, prospective, controlled, longitudinal open study - short: Restoration of ß-cell function after gastric bypass
- Abstract
- The presented project aims to:
1) compare changes in â-cell function following gastric bypass in patients with short- and long-term history of type 2 diabetes (T2DM),
2) evaluate the â-cell insulin response to oral and intravenous glucose load early and late after gastric bypass surgery,
3) relate the early and long-term changes in â-cell function after gastric bypass to changes in parameters of adipoinsular and enteroinsular axes in patients with and without T2DM and
4) compare the changes of adipoinsular and enteroinsular axes after weight loss achieved after gastric bypass with BMI-matched controls without bariatric surgery.
