Fields of expertise
- Since 2001, I have conducted my research activities in Life Sciences (most related with medical science). I was initially trained as Biochemist in CERELA-CONICET Argentina, where I achieve the PhD degree in Biochemistry at the National University of Tucumán. After that, I worked as Postdoc (2 years) at CIDCA, University of La Plata in Argentina and 4 years at the Laboratory of Microbiology and Biochemistry (LMBA), Bordeaux Science Agro in France. In these times, my expertise was mainly Functional food, Gastrointestinal tract, Respiratory tract, Mucosal Immunology and immunomodulation. In the context of this postdoctoral research programs I have participated in Cooperation Projects with the Institute Pasteur Montevideo (IPMON), Montevideo, Uruguay and with the Laval University, Quebec, Canada. Furthermore, I collaborated in the instruction of several master and PhD students.
In the last 6 years, I have been part of the research staff of the Laboratory of Experimental and Molecular Hepatology, Medical University Graz. I was able to strengthen my skills in molecular biology applied to Hepatology. I acquired further knowledge in the field of molecular mechanisms of cholestatic liver diseases and cholemic nephropathy with a specific focus on the role of bile acids. Furthermore, I have collaborated with the supervision and technical assistance for thesis of medical students and PhD students.
During my carrier, I acquired training in a variety of biological models and techniques:
• in vivo assays in mice, rats and hamsters (inflammatory diseases and chronic liver diseases models (BDL)). (harvesting and processing of different tissues)
• in vitro assays using many different kind of eukaryote cells cultures : hepatic cells, gastrointestinal cells, kidney epithelial cells, immune cells etc. (HepG2, HuH-7, Hep3b, Caco-2, HT-29, U2OS, HEK, COS, HK, Raw, PBMC, Dendritic cells, mucosal immune cells, etc.).
• Techniques: citotoxicity assays, cell transfections (siRna), molecular biology (RNA isolation, RTPCR, qPCR, DGGE, protein isolation Western Blots), ELISA, Histology (immunofluorescence and immunohistochemestry), Bodipy and lisotracker stainings, Flowcytometry, Confocal microscopy (acquisition and analysis), Microbiological cultures (aerobic and anaerobic conditions), etc.
